Intersectional Minority Stress, Social Connection, and Suicide
Oppression can occur due to a variety of reasons, and often people experience multiple sources of oppression (i.e., due to racism and heterosexism). We study how sexual minorities of color experience and are affected by intersectional minority stress. We look at how intersectional stress can impact feeling connected to others, and how this contributes to depression and suicidal states. We are interested in interventions that might protect against the deleterious effects of intersectional stress.
